Jason "Shaft" Bishop writes Songs that carries emotion as hard as it carries energy — songs shaped in collaboration with some of the region's most recognisable voices and producers.
Jason ‘Shaft’ Bishop has been writing music for over 17 years. In 2008, he made his mark in the Soca music industry for songwriting and music production, when he wrote the very popular tune,“Saddle It”, for Soca songstress, Destra Garcia, which received significant airplay. This created a demand for his songwriting and music production brilliance throughout the region from many artistes and managers.
His work spans anthems performed by Machel Montano , Destra Garcia, Voice, Olatunji Yearwood , Blaxx , Patrice Roberts and the list goes on, written alongside collaborators including Scott Galt, Michael Hulsmeier and the production team De Red Boyz.
In the room he works fast and specific — topline, concept, structure, and the small lyrical turns that make a chorus feel inevitable. Outside the room he treats a catalogue like a body of work, not a stack of singles.
